We hope that our web site provides a great deal of valuable technical information, which is available to anyone who visits our web site. The technical materials on this page, however, are intended only for DRD's customers, and are, therefore, password protected. We provide these materials to our customers as a benefit for doing business with DRD, and at our discretion we provide them to selected DRD friends and associates.

The topics on this page are intended for engineers who are interested in highly technical and detailed information on ANSYS. These topics contain information, which is not readily available to ANSYS users through standard documentation and training courses. For example, some topics provide information on ANSYS capabilities that are under development or are not documented.

Decreasing File Transfer Time for ANSYS R14 Remost Solve Manager (February 2012). The presentation offers a number of methods for improving the file transfer rate of RSM including file compression, not transferring restart files or the individual file#.rst file from DANSYS solves. You can download the document here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select RSM File Transfer from the password topic list).

Overview and Installation Instructions for ANSYS R14 Remote Solve Manager (February 2012). The presentation shows how to use the ANSYS Remote Solve Manager to submit models for solution on other computers in your network and then bring back the results to your computer for postprocessing. This presentation has been updated to Release 14 and includes the procedure for Mechanical, FLUENT, and CFX. You must have at least two ANSYS licenses (or a PrepPost and separate Solver) to do a background solve or submit a model for solution using the Remote Solve Manager. You can download the document here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select RSM R14 from the password topic list).

Customizing ANSYS Elastic-Plastic Stress/Strain Behavior Using Voce and Chaboche Nonlinear Hardening Models (December 2011). This download provides the content for DRD’s webinar on this subject, which DRD conducted December 1 and December 12, 2011. The download content includes:
-       ANSYS White Paper: “Chaboche Nonlinear Kinematic Hardening Model”, Sheldon Imaoka, May 2008
-       DRD Presentation with additional treatment of theory: “Deviating from the 2σy Bauschinger Kinematic Hardening Rule via Material Combinations in ANSYS V13”, Matt Duvall, March 2011.
-       The webinar Powerpoint file in pdf format.
-       A recording of the webinar ANSYS model demonstration in Shockwave flash format.
-       ANSYS V13 SP 2 model used in the webinar demonstration.
-       A recording of the entire webinar presentation from December 1, 2011, in Shockwave flash format (separate zip file to download).

You can download the presentation content here. The entire webinar presentation is here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ANSYS Voce/Chaboche from the password topic list).

ANSYS DesignLife License Set Up Instructions at R13 (November 2011). This download provides instructions for two tasks related to ANSYS DesignLife license set up. 1) Pointing a DesignLife license client computer to a DesignLife license server computer. 2) Setting up a DesignLife Flexlm service. You can download the document here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ANSYS DL Licensing from the password topic list).

Creating Coincident Nodes on the Faces of Mating Parts (August 2011). This presentation outlines the process of creating a mesh with coincident nodes on the interface of mating parts. This is useful in multi-field problems for which you want to couple some degrees of freedom on the interface of mating parts while leaving other degrees of freedom independent. You can download the document here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select Coincident Nodes from the password topic list).

Parasolid Export of Deformed Geometry (April 2011). This zip file contains a step by step tutorial and ANSYS model that covers the updating of nodal geometry to its deformed shape, exporting this information to FE Modeler for skinning and creation of parasolid geometry, and finally some clean up in DesignModeler so that the model can be meshed or exported to another CAD tool. You can download the document here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select Deformed Geometry Export from the password topic list).

Highlights of ANSYS SpaceClaim (August 2010). This file is a copy of the webinar DRD promoted August 26, 2010 on the highlights of ANSYS SpaceClaim and the differences between it and DesignModeler. A brief powerpoint is presented along with 4 videos that include modeling from scratch, modifying pre-existing solids, and creating beam and shell element models. You can download the document here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select SpaceClaim Highlights from the password topic list).

ANSYS V12.1 Using Parameter Manager to do CFX Batch Solutions (February 2010). This overview explains through an example how to define parameters in CFX (such as a flow rate) that will then appear in the parameter manager and can be used to set up a series of solutions. The results of each of these solutions are automatically saved and can be postprocessed individually. You can download the document here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select CFX Batch Solutions from the password topic list).
