ANSYS Discovery Live Download Instructions
Three things are required to run ANSYS Discovery Live: a license manager, a license file, and Discovery Live itself.
The license manager is installed on one computer. It can serve licenses to a Discovery Live install on the same computer or to Discovery Live on any other number of computers over a network connection. The license file is generated specifically for the one computer to act as the server.
If you have already provided DRD the machine information required to produce the license file (or already received the email with your license file), you can skip step A below.
A). Providing machine info to DRD: Visit the Capture License Server Information page on the ANSYS website and follow the five-step process it lists. (Most companies will only have one license server and can skip step #4.) Once DRD has the information for the computer to be the license server, we can generate your license file and send it to you.
B). License manager: You can download the most recent version of the ANSYS license manager here: ANSYS R19.2 License Manager. You can follow this YouTube video for instructions on installing the license manager. Remember to right-click and run the installer as an administrator explicitly.
C). License file: Once you have the LM installed, you can go to the Start Menu > ANSYS, Inc. License Manager > ANSYS License Management Center to access the license manager software. Choose the “Add a License File” page and browse to the .txt file that you received in an email from DRD. If you do not have the temp key yet, you can skip this step for now – it will prevent you from running Discovery Live until you do, but you can still perform the next installation step in the meantime.
D). Discovery Live: You can download the latest version of DL here: Discovery 19.2. This can be installed on any computer that you want to run DL on, including the license server. When it asks you if you are using a floating license or subscription method, pick floating. On the next page, fill in the hostname field with the name of the computer on which you installed the license manager.
Once this is done, you should be able to go to the Start Menu > ANSYS 19.2 > ANSYS Discovery Suite > Discovery Live 19.2 and start simulating! If you have any issues with the download or installation process, please reach out to DRD Technical Support at email@example.com.
