We hope that our web site provides a great deal of valuable technical information, which is available to anyone who visits our web site. The technical materials on this page, however, are intended only for DRD's customers, and are, therefore, password protected. We provide these materials to our customers as a benefit for doing business with DRD, and at our discretion we provide them to selected DRD friends and associates.
The topics on this page are intended for engineers who are interested in highly technical and detailed information on ANSYS. These topics contain information, which is not readily available to ANSYS users through standard documentation and training courses. For example, some topics provide information on ANSYS capabilities that are under development or are not documented.

Case Study: ICEM Midsurface Extraction and Shell Meshing of a Steel Plate Assembly (October 15, 2002) - This case study summarizes a joint effort between Charles Machine Works, owner of the Ditch Witch brand, and DRD to investigate ICEM's effectiveness in creating midsurfaces and the subsequent shell meshes for structural analysis for thin members. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ICEM Midsurface and Shell Meshing from password topic list). This presentation is available only to DRD clients and ASD's. Case Study: ICEM Modeling Techniques for Structural Analysis of Large Assemblies (October 4, 2002) - This case study summarizes a joint effort between Atchison Casting and DRD to investigate ICEM's effectiveness in creating meshes for structural analysis including the creation of beam spiders and shells. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ICEM Structural Meshing from password topic list). This presentation is available only to DRD clients and ASD's. Solver and Memory Guidelines as of ANSYS 6.1 (September 9, 2002) - This Powerpoint presentation discusses memory settings, parallel performance and miscellaneous solution notes for the sparse and PCG solvers. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select Solver and Memory Guidelines from password topic list). ICEM Meshing Case Study for Charles Machine Works Ditch Witch Swing Post Casting (August 6, 2002) - This case study summarizes a joint effort between Charles Machine Works, owner of the Ditch Witch brand, and DRD to investigate ICEM's effectiveness in meshing a cast part of medium complexity. The cast part of a backhoe swing post is represented with 'bad' geometry that has several solid model flaws. ICEM meshed this cast part easily even though ANSYS 6.1, Pro/ENGINEER Mechanica in FEM mode, and DesignSpace 6.1 were not able to mesh it. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ICEM Case Study from password topic list.) This presentation is available only to DRD clients and ASD's. Multi-Point Constraint Contact for Bonded Always Contact (June 21, 2002) - This is a new capability, which was introduced to ANSYS at version 6.1. It is not documented in ANSYS 6.1, and may not be documented in ANSYS 7. This capability offers advantages over bonded always contact for linear contact problems. You can download a presentation and a sample input file that uses this capability here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ANSYS MPC Contact from password topic list) Mechanical Test Simulation for Telecommunications Equipment and Electronics Packaging - The following PDF files were presented at DRD's seminar on February 16th, 2001. These PDF files are zipped and password protected. If you know the password, you can download them from the links below. (You may also request a password. Select Telecom Seminar from topic list)
ANSYS Nonlinear Topics Seminar (Dallas, January 2000) - A number of nonlinear capabilities available in ANSYS were discussed in this seminar and presentations on each of these topics (buckling, creep, contact, new element technology, multi-frame restarts, initial stress on elements, and pretension elements) are available for download here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ANSYS Nonlinear Topics Seminar from topic list.) |
