We hope that our web site provides a great deal of valuable technical information, which is available to anyone who visits our web site. The technical materials on this page, however, are intended only for DRD's customers, and are, therefore, password protected. We provide these materials to our customers as a benefit for doing business with DRD, and at our discretion we provide them to selected DRD friends and associates.

The topics on this page are intended for engineers who are interested in highly technical and detailed information on ANSYS. These topics contain information, which is not readily available to ANSYS users through standard documentation and training courses. For example, some topics provide information on ANSYS capabilities that are under development or are not documented.

ANSYS 7.1 Multi-Point Constraint (MPC) Contact (Oct 10, 2003) - This presentation provides an overview of multipoint constraint (MPC) contact, which was introduced as a documented feature at ANSYS 7.1. MPC contact provides a way to connect parts in assemblies without requiring the parts to share nodes. MPC contact can even easily handle gaps or interference between parts. Examples of solid to solid, shell to shell, shell to solid, beam to solid, and beam to shell MPC contact are provided. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select Multi-Point Constraints 7.1 from password topic list).

Fatigue Module Case Study in ANSYS Workbench Environment (Oct 3, 2003) - This presentation covers a case study and some fatigue prediction capabilities available within the ANSYS Workbench Environment. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select Workbench Fatigue Module from password topic list).

New Features in ANSYS 7.1 Cassic GUI (Oct 1, 2003) - This presentation covers enhancements to the ANSYS classic graphical user interface including how to edit the new toolbars. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ANSYS 7.1 GUI Enhancements from password topic list).

The Use of the SMP Solver with ANSYS/LS-DYNA (September 25, 2003) - This presentation covers the procedure needed to invoke the Shared Memory Processor Solver within DYNA to speed up your solution on multiple processor machines. It also provides a speed comparison for a model run with and without the SMP solver. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select SMP Solver for ANSYS/LS-DYNA from password topic list).

New Features in ANSYS 7.1 Mechanics (June 10, 2003) - This presentation covers enhancements to ANSYS in the area of Mechanics including assembly contact and multi-point constraints for loading. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select ANSYS Mechanics 7.1 from password topic list).

ANSYS DesignModeler Introduction (April 11, 2003) - This presentation describes some capabilities available within the DesignModeler product (formerly AGP) and why previous ANSYS Classic users may find significant value in this product. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select DesignModeler Introduction from password topic list).

Case Study: Overview of the ANSYS Workbench Environment 7.0 (March 7, 2003) - This document summarizes the results of a case study to demonstrate analysis of a Charles Machine Works Ditch Witch trencher assembly using SolidEdge V12 in combination with ANSYS Workbench 7.0. The work involves transfer of a SolidEdge 3D solid CAD model into Workbench and performance of the analysis in Workbench. Associativity between SolidEdge and Workbench is maintained so that the finite element model in Workbench can be automatically updated based on design changes made in SolidEdge. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select Workbench Environment 7.0 from password topic list).

ANSYS DesignXplorer Module Description (February 21, 2003) - This presentation describes the capabilities available within the DesignXplorer product when used in combination with the ANSYS Workbench Environment. You can download the presentation here. (A password is required if you have not obtained one already. Select DesignXplorer Overview from password topic list).
