Nonlinear
Transient Dynamic Analysis of a
Cellular Phone Antenna
|
|
This animation shows a cross-sectional view of
a cell phone antenna when dropped from 1.5 meters. DRD performed this
dynamic analysis to determined the behavior of the antenna when it falls
from a person's belt or hand. The weight of the entire phone was simulated
but only the cross sectional view of the antenna portion is shown for this animation.
Nonlinear contact is modeled with friction between the floor and the hyperelastic cover and between the cover and the internal plastic frame. Bonded contact is used to hole the frame and retaining ring together. Before impact occurs, stress contours can be identified in the frame from the initial interference of parts during assembly. Plasticity is modeled in the frame and a permanent deformation in this plastic part can be identified as the antenna bounces off the ground. Courtesy Allgon Telecom |
