Structural Dynamics Course in ANSYS Classic Outline
The DRD Structural Dynamics course is based on course materials from ANSYS, Inc. with supplementary materials from DRD Technology. The course materials from ANSYS, Inc. are based on ANSYS 10.0. DRD’s supplementary course materials are compatible with ANSYS 10.
This course objective is train engineers to perform the entire range of dynamic analysis types in ANSYS with emphasis on relating the analysis types to actual physical problems. DRD puts special attention on checking solutions with hand calculations based on closed form solutions to single degree of freedom systems. Analysis types include normal modes, harmonic response, linear and nonlinear transient, response spectrum, and random vibration.
DRD’s supplementary materials cover harmonic response, random vibration, and linear transient with triangular shock analysis of an electronics chassis. They also cover hand calculations to check the solutions to harmonic response, random vibration, response spectrum and linear transient analyses. DRD’s supplementary materials also cover some simple dynamics calculations including normalizing modes with respect to the mass matrix, decoupling equations of motion using the solution eigenvectors, and calculation of dynamic load factors. DRD is a big fan of the mode superposition technique, and our supplementary materials include harmonic and transient shock test on an electronics chassis using mode superposition.
