2D Flexible-Flexible Contact with an O Ring Using a Mooney Rivlin Hyperelastic Material Model

This animation shows equivalent strain in the O ring, groove, and upper plate.

 In this workshop we perform a 2D analysis of an O ring squashed into an O ring groove. Aspects of this model include:
  • 2D flexible-flexible contact.
  • Large strain and large deflections.
  • Mooney-Rivlin hyperelastic representation of O ring material.
  • Ramping of initial penetration.
  • Adjustment of normal contact stiffness to achieve convergence.
