2D Large Deflection and Sliding Contact Analysis of a Mechanical Connector Including Point-Surface Contact and Friction


This animation shows the simulation of the spring leg being inserted into the chassis.

 In this workshop we perform a 2D plane stress analysis of the mechanical connector shown in the adjacent animation. Aspects of this model include:
  • Use of point to surface contact elements to deal with initial contact.
  • Activation of friction after achieving a frictionless solution.
  • Tweaking of various contact options to achieve convergence for the solution with friction.
