2D Rigid-Flexible Contact with an O Ring Using a Mooney Rivlin Hyperelastic Material Model

This animation shows equivalent strain in the O ring.

 In this workshop we perform a 2D analysis of an O ring squashed into an O ring groove. Aspects of this model include:
  • 2D rigid-flexible contact.
  • Large strain and large deflections.
  • Mooney-Rivlin hyperelastic representation of O ring material.
  • Ramping of initial penetration.
  • Adjustment of normal contact stiffness to achieve convergence.
  • Extensive postprocessing of contact element results entities.
  • Construction of O ring load deflection curve using APDL.
