3D Contact Analysis with Cocentric Cylinders including Initial Penetration and Plasticity Effects

In this workshop there are two cocentric cylinders assembled with initial penetration. The inner cylinder, which is made of bronze, deforms plastically due to the initial penetration. The outer cylinder is made of steel, and is not expected to deform plastically. Aspects of this model include:
  • 3D flexible-flexible contact.
  • Bilinear kinematic plasticity.
  • Ramping of initial penetration.
  • Tweaking of normal contact stiffness and penetration tolerance to improve quality of contact pressure distribution.
  • Calculation of inner cylinder pull out force using APDL.
