The displacement behavior
shown in the animation above is the same as standard nonlinear contact until
contact occurs. Once in contact, surfaces are permanently tied together and
cannot slide with respect to each other.

The magnitude of friction stress shown in
the above animation is large since bonded contact prevents sliding. The greatest
value of friction stress is -659,858 as compared to only -101,353 for standard
contact.
