No Separation Always Contact, Key Option 12 = 4

No separation always contact first brings the target and contact surfaces together to eliminate the gap, and then permanently holds the surfaces together while allowing frictionless sliding. Note that this is essentially linear contact.

In this model the gap between the two beams was included by setting key option 9 = 0. This caused the contact elements to bring the contact and surfaces together such the the gap is closed. The more useful way to use the no separation always contact option is usually to set key option 9 = 1 so that the gap is ignored and the contact and target surfaces are held together in their ‘as assembled’ position.
