In this workshop the students perform a thermal and thermal-stress analysis on a 2D axi-symmetric model of the heat exchanger channel shown. Some concepts covered are:

• Thermal model set up, solution, and postprocessing
• Conversion of a thermal model to a stress model
• Mapping of thermal results onto a stress model
• Stress analysis using thermal and mechanical loads.
• Graphical symmetry expansion from 2D to 3D.
